An Cat Dubh is planning to relocate to Connolly, Co. Clare early in 2013. Because of this we will not be in a position to accept any more cats at the sanctuary until all of the existing animals have settled at the new location. Trapping, neutering and release (TNR) will continue as needed but ALL cats and kittens trapped will need to be returned to their place of origin. If you want to avail of the TNR service in East Galway please contact Rhona Lucas on 086 251 8323.
An Cat Dubh is hoping to enter a team of 5 in the Galway Women's Mini Marathon to be run or walked on SUNDAY JUNE 23rd. This event is organised by the Simon Community who do such great work for, and with, the homeless. Registration is closing on the 14th MAY and it costs 25 euro per person or 100 euro for a team of 5. Any sponsorship above the 25 euro entry fee will go towards vets bills of An Cat Dubh. We have one definite entrant so far. Ann did this for ACD last year and raised a great amount and is hoping that at least 4 others will join her this year. For more details please see

This race is also open to men dressed as women! If you intend to enter in support of ACD please will you let Rhona know on

'An Cat Dubh' is actively engaged in a trap neuter and release programme. All kittens caught are kept at the sanctuary until 6 months of age and ready for neutering. Most of them will never be re-homed and will remain at 'An Cat Dubh' for the rest of their lives. Please help us continue this valuable work by donating via Pay Pal or directly to Jim Smyth, Railway Veterinary Practice, Market Way, Loughrea, Galway, Ireland.

Rush-hour at An Cat Dubh Sanctuary
Rhona has recently been asked by a local veterinary practice to support a woman who is being troubled by a feral tom cat. She has visited and advised the woman and provided general support re trap setting etc.
